Sipitang Used To Be Called Mengalong

Sipitang used to be called Mengalong after the river with the same name and its territory spanned from Mengalong River from the Marintaman area to Trusan in Brunei and was leased by the North Borneo East India Company from the local leader to open up rubber plantations. Mengalong now is just the name of a river in Sipitang District.
